a quiet family home above the lake, sometimes shared
a quiet home with a garden, a pool,
and a tortoise named guendalino
Casa Mafalda is not part of our hosted stays—it’s our personal home in Dormelletto, a small village just above the southern shores of Lake Maggiore, a lived-in place filled with memories, a few imperfections, sunlight, and the scent of herbs and lavender.
It’s the house where Elena grew up, the family home that still lingers with the aroma of Sunday lunches and the echo of childhood summers.
Today, it’s lovingly lived in by Mafalda, Elena’s mum, and it’s right next door to the house where Elena and Matteo now live.
We don’t rent it professionally, but when Mafalda is away, we open the doors of Casa Mafalda to quiet souls in search of rest, simplicity, and slow beauty.
Casa Mafalda is real, warm, and full of life.
Not a holiday home, but a home that—once in a while—becomes one.
a note
Casa Mafalda is not part of our professional hosting work.
It’s our family home—shared occasionally, informally, and always with care.
what to expect
A peaceful setting with a refreshing swimming pool
A tiny lush garden, home to wildflowers, herbs, and Guendalino, the resident tortoise and slow-living ambassador of the house
One bedroom, one bathroom, and a well-used, well-loved kitchen
A shaded patio with a barbecue, a dining table, and a swing seat for long conversations or quiet reading
Books, natural linen bedding, and a lived-in kind of beauty
The kind of place where time stretches gently
echoes from a stay
These words were shared by guests who found a little magic at Casa Mafalda.
